Welcome to Rooted in Nature
At Rooted in Nature, we believe the future of urban living starts with reconnecting to the earth. We transform cityscapes into thriving ecosystems, using living structures, immersive art, and sustainable innovation to inspire communities.
From willow domes that breathe life into festivals to green sanctuaries sprouting in unexpected corners, our work is a love letter to the natural world—and a challenge to the urban grind.
Rooted in Amsterdam, our projects bridge the gap between people and nature, turning concrete jungles into living, breathing places of connection and curiosity. Each creation invites you to step in, slow down, and rediscover what it means to feel alive.
Explore our work, join our journey, and let’s reimagine what our cities can be—one root, one branch, one moment at a time.

How I Got Started
Rooted in Nature began as a seed planted in my years as a chef, where I learned the beauty of working with living things—nurturing, shaping, and crafting with intention. But the turning point came when I moved to Amsterdam, trading Michelin-starred kitchens for open skies and the challenge of bringing nature back to the urban world.
What started as a personal experiment—willow branches bending into domes, green patches reclaiming forgotten corners—grew into something bigger when I partnered with Theo Rekelhof, a visionary Dutch environmental artist. Together, we shared a passion for blending art, ecology, and community to transform spaces into living, breathing works of wonder.
Inspired by Theo’s deep-rooted understanding of environmental artistry and my drive to create immersive, sustainable experiences, we co-founded Rooted in Nature. Our shared vision was simple but ambitious: to reconnect people to the natural world through innovative green structures that spark curiosity, foster connection, and inspire change.
This journey has taken us from city parks to international festivals, reminding us every step of the way why we started—to create something lasting, something alive, something that brings people closer to nature and each other.
